2007-2008 Academy Dress Guidelines

2008-2009 Academy Dress Guidelines

Students appearance at all time will be appropriate for a school and will not interfere with the learning environment.

 

Shirts/Sweaters/Sweatshirts

These are the options student will have everyday.

  • Academy colors are maroon, white, navy blue.
  • Every type of shirt will be an academy color.
  • All shirts will be tucked in.
  • Polos should have no more than four (4) buttons (no capped sleeves).
  • All shirts must be a solid color.
  • The ONLY logo allowed is a Conway logo.
  • Turtlenecks and long sleeve T-shirts may be worn under short-sleeved polos or academy-colored sweaters or sweatshirts.
  • Polos and collared shirts may be short- or long-sleeved.
  • Sweaters/sweatshirts will not have hoods or zippers.
  • Sweaters are to be uniform type.
  • Conway team or club shirts may be worn if they are academy colors.

Pants/Shorts/Skirts/Skorts/Jumpers

Theses are the options students will have everyday:

  • Academy colors are navy blue and khaki.
  • Pants, shorts, skirts, and jumpers will be cotton or cotton blend fabric (no spandex-type material).
  • Pants should be worn at waist level without sagging.
  • Pants should be the correct size in both the waist and length.
  • All clothing will be hemmed.
  • Shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers will be knee-length.

 Shoes

  • Shoes and socks must be worn at all times.
  • Shoes are to be enclosed front and back.
  • If shoes are designed for laces, they must be laced.
  • Boots may be worn with pant so that the pants cover the boot (i.e., pants not tucked into boots).

 Spirit Day Dress

Spirit Day dress consists of blue jeans and:

·      a Conway Polo shirt.

·      Conway team or Conway Club shirt. (STARS Club shirts are acceptible Conway Club shirts.

 

Restrictions on Dress and Appearance

The restrictions on dress and appearance can not begin to incorporate all the fads and trends that take place.  The following is a list of restrictions that can be modified as the need arises:

 

  • Belts are optional; if a belt is worn, oversized belt buckles are not allowed.
  • No hats are to be worn in the building.
  • No jackets, coats, or gloves are to be worn during normal school hours.
  • All clothing should be of the appropriate size.
  • No book bags or backpacks are allowed in classrooms.
  • Purses that double as backpacks are prohibited when used as a backpack. Some teams do not allow purses to be taken to class.
  • Key chains must be kept in pockets or backpacks or must be worn underneath shirts.
  • No body piercing is allowed other than on the ears.
  • No visible tattoos are allowed.
  • No grills (mouth ornaments) are allowed.
  • No distracting accessories are allowed (e.g. sunglasses, large jewelry, rubber bands around pants legs or wrists).    

Please remember that it is impossible for the staff to be aware f every new change in fashion and to addess it in the Academy Dress Guidelines. We feel that a student's academic success is directly correlated to appropriate attire and appearance. Questions are encourages concerning the dress code and what may be worn. Please ask before you buy.
